Some weddings hold a little extra meaning for our team, and Natalie and Patrick’s wedding at the beautiful Keeler Tavern Museum Center was one of them!
As a veteran-owned event company, Porchlight takes great pride in supporting fellow veterans, both through our services and the relationships we build within the wedding industry.
What made this celebration particularly special was the opportunity to work alongside a team with shared military backgrounds. Not only was the groom a veteran, but the wedding photographer and DJ were veterans as well! There’s something especially rewarding about seeing veterans come together in a completely different capacity, using their talents and experiences to help create unforgettable moments.
Our team provided provided both Day-of Coordination and Day-of Support services, helping ensure their special day came together seamlessly.
Our Day-of Coordination services focused on the logistical side of the wedding. From communicating with vendors and overseeing the event timeline to coordinating important moments and addressing last-minute needs, our goal was to keep everything organized and running smoothly behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, our Day-of Support team assisted with the physical setup of the celebration, including arranging décor, preparing event spaces, and attending to the finishing touches that helped bring the couple’s vision to life. At the conclusion of the evening, our crew also handled décor breakdown and cleanup, allowing the newlyweds and their loved ones to enjoy the celebration without worrying about the work afterward.
Together, these services allowed our team to manage both the physical and logistical details of the wedding, giving Natalie and Patrick the opportunity to focus on what mattered most: celebrating their marriage with family and friends.
The setting made this veteran-connected celebration even more meaningful. Not only did Keeler Tavern Museum provide a traditional charm and beautiful backdrop, the venue has its own remarkable place in American military history dating back to the Revolutionary War. During the Battle of Ridgefield on April 27, 1777, British troops fired upon the tavern, which was owned by Patriot supporter Timothy Keeler. Remarkably, one of those British cannonballs remains embedded in a corner post of the historic building nearly 250 years later!

With such a tangible connection to America’s military past, Keeler Tavern felt like an especially fitting place to celebrate a veteran’s wedding, surrounded by fellow veterans helping bring the occasion to life.
Military service emphasizes qualities that translate naturally into the event industry: discipline, adaptability, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure. From coordinating moving parts to navigating unexpected challenges, these are skills that help keep an event running smoothly.
Working alongside fellow veteran professionals was especially rewarding because of that shared foundation. While our military experiences may differ, we understand the importance of preparation, clear communication, accountability, and working toward a common objective.
Of course, these qualities aren’t exclusive to veterans, but they’re values that military service helped instill in many of us. Seeing those strengths come together in a creative, celebratory environment was a reminder of just how versatile the skills gained through service can be.
Different missions, same commitment to excellence.
