Halloween Party in Torrington, CT

This client reached out to us for help decorating their home for Halloween Party in Torrington, CT. We identified several decoration elements that would make a huge impact on the event, made a plan, and got to work.

Budget-Friendly Body

To create a cohesive, eye-catching decor scheme, we incorporated a central decorative element in every room of the home that would be visible to guests. Naturally, our options were more limited in the bathroom, but we came up with a simple yet impactful idea inspired by our favorite crime-thriller shows – a “body” in the bathtub. This was an easy project that made a big impact. We simply stuffed some pillows and blankets into garbage bags, added a pair of shoes to make it look more realistic, and finished it off with some bloody window clings for an extra spooky touch.

Changing Holographic Pictures

These were probably our favorite decoration elements. We hung these pictures in every room of the house, and almost every guest took a double-take when they walked by. The pictures were holograms- which looked like portraits of people, but changed to a scary skeleton version when viewed at the right angle. The best part? We got them from Amazon for about $30, and the package included four of them.

The Dining Room With A Blacklight Chandelier

To create a spooky, Halloween-inspired ambiance in the dining room, we had planned to hang decorative spider-webs throughout the space. We really wanted the webs to pop and stand out. This led us to the idea of placing blacklights in the room. However, the challenge was mounting the blacklights high enough to ensure proper coverage across the entire area. Fortunately, there was a chandelier centered in the room, so we decided to utilize it. We replaced the standard bulbs with blacklight versions – which we didn’t even know existed! We then draped spider-webs all over the chandelier. This produced a hauntingly beautiful, “ghastly” effect.

As an additional touch, we ordered a backdrop and installed a couple of balloon columns. Combined with some strategically placed fog and DMX lighting as special effects, the end result was a delightfully spooky and fun atmosphere.

The Living Room

To create a cozy, immersive atmosphere for our Halloween party, we transformed the living room into a spooky sanctuary. While we wanted guests to have a space to take a break from the festivities, we also aimed to fully immerse them in the haunting theme. We started by swapping out the regular lightbulbs for color-changing ones, setting them to a deep, moody red. To conceal the everyday decor and better match the Halloween vibe, we draped spider webs across the shelves. Finally, we added flickering fake candles and played classic horror films on the TV, tying the whole space together. Our goal was to strike a balance – providing a comfortable respite while still enveloping guests in the spirit of the holiday. The end result was a living room that felt like a portal to another, more sinister world.

Table Decorations

We kept these simple and easy – adding more spider-webs, fake candles, and of course, plenty of candy! We didn’t spend too much time perfecting the table displays, knowing they likely wouldn’t remain pristine throughout the night. However, we still wanted them to be eye-catching and set the festive mood.
