The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) reached out to Porchlight, requesting a proposal for the non-profit’s four major fundraising events in the Southern New England region. JDRF sought a partner to help create a fun and inviting atmosphere for their 2023 JDRF One Walk events.
“We are honored that JDRF has considered Porchlight as a potential partner,” said Brian Formanek, Porchlight’s owner. “Our track record of uniting people for important causes makes us confident we can provide the consultation and support JDRF requires… Being considered is a testament to the dedication of our team and vendors over the past few years – that is truly something to be proud of.”
The request outlined the scope of work, which included assistance with event design, vendor coordination, and budget management. On May 31st, 2023, Porchlight finalized and submitted a proposal to JDRF for consideration. This proposal detailed improvements for all four upcoming JDRF One Walk events, which were scheduled to take place at venues across Connecticut and Massachusetts, including Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford, Six Flags New England in Agawam, Hammonasset Beach in Madison, and Dodd Stadium in Norwich.
JDRF scheduled a consultation with Porchlight. Following the consultation, Formanek reported that it was successful, and the team was making good progress. The focus was to be on enhancing the experience at the Hammonassett Beach event, while replicating the positive experiences from past events at the three other venues, with minor changes.
Although JDRF ultimately decided against hiring an outside event planner, Porchlight provided the consultation services free of charge, in good faith and in support of the organization’s mission.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is a nonprofit organization that focuses on funding research for type 1 diabetes (T1D), offering a wide range of community and advocacy services to the T1D community, and actively lobbying for regulations that support medical research and the approval of new and improved T1D treatments.
Participants in the JDRF One Walk form teams with their friends, family, colleagues, and classmates to raise money that powers more research, enables more advocacy, and funds more support for people living with type 1 diabetes. This year, the JDRF One Walk is expected to have over 2,500 attendees.
